Emma's House Story
Debbie Elizondo founded Emma’s House after struggling for years with after school care for her daughter Emma. She found herself worrying where Emma, who has an intellectual disability, would go after school when she aged out of daycare at 13.
Debbie, a special education teacher, was fortunate and arranged for Emma to be brought to the school where she taught, but her concern grew for families without this option.
When another family that had a child with special needs approached her with the same fears and concerns, she knew she had to do something.
After considerable research, countless prayers and support from family, Debbie decided to open Emma’s House in 2012.
Emma's House has provided a safe, fun establishment that everyone can enjoy. Volunteers, members, and employees love what they do here at Emma's House.We offer three major programs through the year:
After School Care, Holiday breaks/ no school days, and the wonderful Summer program.
After School Care is Monday through Friday, ages 14 and up, from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM.
*If your child attends Irving ISD the school bus will drop them off at Emma's House. Also on Early release days we open at 12:00 PM and close at 6:30 PM.
During extended Holiday Breaks and/or No School Days (EX. Spring Break, Christmas Break, Presidents Day) we provide our services Monday through Friday, ages 14 and up, 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM. During extended breaks we schedule fun activities, guest, and field trips!
Summer at Emma's House is what we look forward to every year! We offer our services Monday through Friday, ages 14 and up, 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Every week we go on field trips, arrange guest visitors, have fun activities, and much more. This program is great not only for our members, but a wonderful opportunity for volunteers who love to have fun while helping a great cause.

Please Note: We are CLOSED: New Years Day, Christmas Eve & Day, Thanksgiving Day & Friday after and 4th of July.
Our Mission for the future of Emma's House...
The mission we aim for our members is to promote social skills, self awareness, and vocational skills. We want families to know this is a great place for members to not only learn daily life skills, but to make wonderful friends, and have lots of fun!
The mission we aim for Emma's House is a day program, and with that hopefully expand to a larger facility. We want to be able to provide our assistance's to as many families as possible in the future.
